ALAN 2014 Education Activities

We delivered our mobile device enabled Supply Chain Disaster Simulation for several groups this year, including:
CSCMP’s Annual Global Conference
CSCMP National Capital Area Roundtable
CSCMP Chicago Roundtable
Howard County, Maryland
Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Partnership
Undergraduate students in Geoff Milsom’s Supply Chain class at the University of Maryland

We delivered the paper-based version of the Cross Sector Disaster Simulation for FEMA Region II’s Individual and Community Preparedness workshop in New York City and a group of graduate students in Lisa Harrington’s supply chain class at the University of Maryland.

We then converted the Cross Sector Disaster Simulation to be mobile device enabled, and piloted it with a group of business, government, and nonprofit emergency management professionals following the National Conference on Building Resilience through Public Private Partnerships, hosted at the US Chamber of Commerce in October. The mobile based simulation was also delivered to the Institute for Defense in Business’seminar on Logistics Cooperation for Stabilization and Reconstruction.

In conjunction with YRC Freight, we provided a free webinar on how to pack and ship supplies to improve space utilization and reduce costs.

We facilitated the logistics and transportation work-group at FEMA Region III’s table top exercise.

We spoke on humanitarian logistics to undergraduate students in Daniel Stanton’s supply chain class at Bradley University and graduate students in Scott Ramey’s supply chain class at Florida Southern College.

We spoke on the importance of supply chain business engagement in disaster response at Florida Division of Emergency Management’s Public-Private Partnerships Summit.
