Ongoing Disaster Response Activities
ALAN continues our work responding to multiple disaster areas. The focus continues to be on the Caribbean, with upcoming support missions planned in partnership with Airlink and LIFT for Puerto Rico, Dominica, and St. Thomas. A few notes for tonight:
- We continue to receive requests for logistics support on a daily basis. Some of these outstanding requests include warehouse space and material handling equipment in San Juan, air transport for pediatric medical supplies from NY to PR, ground transport of medical supplies from NYC to Miami, and ocean transport for food, water, generators, and other items. If you’d like to offer assistance with any of these, check out our logistics needs map or tell us how you’d like to help.
- There are numerous collection drives in locations around the country. ALAN and partners are working with non-profit, business, and government organizations to move desired cargo to the intended recipient in a cost effective and expedient fashion. Donated or free transportation is in limited supply across all modes, so businesses or organizations looking to send collected items should be prepared to pay for your transportation.
- Today DHS/FEMA stood down their daily call and will transition to a recurring weekly (or more frequent) schedule. ALAN’s business and non-profit supply chain coordination calls continue on Monday / Wednesday / Friday through at least the end of this week.
- We’ve received a huge outpouring of support from the logistics community over the last 7 ½ weeks, and we can’t thank you enough. For those of you who have given of your time, your finances, or your resources – THANK YOU.
