Sharing the ALAN Story
Communication plays a key role in disaster relief – and in ALAN's efforts in particular. This month, we are reaching out to many of our partners and other stakeholders to ensure that we are communicating as effectively as possible. If you'd like to share your thoughts on how ALAN can relay information and encourage donations, please contact Kathy Fulton, ALAN's Director of Operations.

Supporting Disaster Response in Your Community
Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, or VOADs, continue their response and recovery efforts in communities where disasters have occurred in the past several months and years. These groups provide free services like food distribution, shelter operations, home and yard clean up and repair, and emotional and spiritual care. ALAN supports these groups by connecting them with supply chain resources including warehousing, transportation, material handling, and expertise. To learn more about how you can participate in recovery efforts in your community, visit the ALAN website.
Help Improve Emergency Management
FEMA recently announced the launch of an online initiative designed to encourage collaboration and promote innovation to advance the field of emergency management. The "FEMA Think Tank" includes an online forum for sharing ideas, issues, and solutions, and monthly webinars to discuss best practices surfaced on the forum. Visit online or use Twitter hashtag #femathinktank.
Eyefortransport's Charity Auction to Benefit ALAN
During this year's 3PL Summit June 18 – 20, eyefortransport will hold a charity silent auction to benefit both ALAN and Chicago Children's Charities. If you'd like to donate a prize for the auction, please contact Chris Saynor.
Many Faces of ALAN
Through participation in ALAN, Port Jersey Logistics recently donated transportation of children's "Safe Space Kits" for World Vision in New York. These kits allow aid organizations to establish areas within disaster shelters where children participate in supervised activities to help them work through emotions following disasters. Kits contain materials like art supplies, books, games, and toys. ALAN appreciates Port Jersey's commitment to supporting community resiliency!
