Doing The Hard Work: ALAN Storm Alert For Hurricane Delta

As Texas and Louisiana start to pick up the pieces after Hurricane Delta, we here at American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) are gearing up to provide support – and hoping that our amazing partners like you will be just as willing to help with the 25th named storm of the season as you were with the first.

This is when the hard work begins – disaster response organizations are conducting their assessments and identifying gaps between what they planned for their response and what is actually needed.

It may be a few days before those needs are clearly identified, but just like for every disruptive event of the past 15 years, ALAN is beside them, ready to help deliver, store, and handle the supplies that these organizations need.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Visit our Disaster Microsite to see what services / support are needed now, and offer your assistance. Don’t see something that fits for you? Let us know what you *can* do and we’ll find someone who needs that support.
  • Volunteer your time. ALAN is partnering with Crisis Cleanup to ensure homeowners affected by hurricanes Delta, Laura, and Marco get the help they need cleaning up after this storm. We are looking for individuals willing to make or receive calls to collect and confirm information. Register as a volunteer and select “Crisis Cleanup Phone Bank” from the list of support areas.
  • Keep the clutter out of the disaster zone. Most of the stores in the affected area have re-opened. In Southwest Louisiana, many of these are locally owned businesses that rely on local shoppers who may be displaced. Cash donations to organizations allow them to buy in quantity, and purchase their resources locally, supporting those businesses and the local economy.
  • Donate to support our coordination efforts. Your contributions ensure ALAN is there when needed.
  • Don’t forget you can check in on other natural hazards on our Supply Chain Intelligence Center. The free tool includes details on everything from the ongoing wildfires in the western United States to yesterday’s earthquake near Guam, along with the latest on impacts to US supply chains from COVID-19.

We know you may have fatigue from this year’s many crises – we certainly do.  But we hope you can help the people of the Gulf Coast at least one more time, because the transportation services, warehousing space, forklifts, boxes and other support we provide make a huge difference to those who have been affected.  Let’s do the hard work – together.
